Booking terms and conditions (summary)

These terms apply to all bookings with Dusk 2 Dawn Explorers Co. Limited, Nyago, Makindye, Kampala, Uganda. By paying a deposit or confirming a tour you agree to them.

1. Bookings and payment

A booking is confirmed once we have received the required non-refundable deposit (see section 2) and written confirmation of the itinerary.
All prices, deposits and payments are quoted and payable in United States Dollars (USD). We are not liable for currency conversion losses, bank charges or exchange-rate changes.
The balance is due no later than 60 days before the tour start date unless agreed otherwise in writing. For bookings made within 60 days of departure, full payment is due at booking.
Failure to pay the balance by the due date may be treated as a cancellation by the client.
Where park fees, permit costs or other third-party rates increase between quotation and full payment, the increase may be passed on, with notice given as soon as reasonably possible.

2. Deposits and cancellations

A deposit of 35% of the total tour cost is required to confirm a booking. The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Cancellations must be made in writing (email or WhatsApp). Refunds of amounts paid beyond the deposit: 60+ days before start, 90%; 30–59 days, 50%; 15–29 days, 25%; 0–14 days or no-show, 0%.
No refunds are given for unused parts of a tour once it has started.
Approved refunds are processed within 30 days using the original payment method unless agreed otherwise.
A confirmed booking may be transferred to another person with our written consent and payment of any costs already incurred, including non-recoverable permit fees.
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering cancellation, curtailment and interruption.

3. Itinerary changes

Itineraries, routes, accommodation and schedules may be amended where necessary due to weather, park authority decisions, wildlife behaviour, road conditions, safety or operational needs. We will make reasonable efforts to provide comparable alternatives.

4. No guarantee of wildlife sightings

Tours involve wild animals in their natural habitat. Sightings of any species, including the Shoebill, gorillas or any featured species, are not guaranteed, and no refund is given if a species is not seen.

5. Permits, age and fitness

Gorilla and chimpanzee permits are limited, non-transferable once issued and non-refundable if the client fails to appear or is refused on health or conduct grounds. Permit refunds follow the issuing authority’s own policy.
Gorilla trekking has a minimum age of 15. Clients are responsible for meeting age, health and fitness requirements.

6. Health, safety and liability

Safari activities carry inherent risks. Clients must hold travel and medical insurance including emergency evacuation cover.
Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount paid for the tour, and we are not liable for third-party providers except where Ugandan law requires.

7. Travel documents

Clients are responsible for valid passports, visas and vaccination certificates, including yellow fever where applicable.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uganda. Disputes are first addressed through good-faith negotiation, then by the courts of Uganda.

We collect the information you give us through our enquiry, contact and newsletter forms, by email, phone or WhatsApp: typically your name, contact details, travel dates, preferences and, when you book, passport details needed for permits.
