Kirurumu Tented Lodge stands on the western escarpment of the Great Rift Valley, with superb views over the plains and Lake Manyara far below. It is run as a joint venture with the local community and is about 20 minutes from the entrance to Lake Manyara National Park.
The lodge has 31 tented rooms on raised wooden decks, linked by stone paths, each with an en-suite bathroom and a veranda. Two honeymoon suites stand apart, and two family cottages have a second bedroom. Short walks with Maasai guides along the escarpment and to nearby waterfalls are offered.

Lake Manyara is about one and a half to two hours from Arusha by road. Manyara airstrip, on top of the escarpment, has flights from Arusha and the Serengeti.
Lake Manyara National Park lies at the foot of the Rift Valley escarpment, with a groundwater forest, a soda lake and open floodplains in a small area. It is known for elephants, baboons, flamingos in some seasons and lions that sometimes climb trees. The town of Mto wa Mbu below the escarpment is a lively place for a cultural walk.
