Family 8 days8-Day Uganda Family Safari
A safari built for families: rhino tracking on foot, boat trips among hippos and elephants, game drives, crater lakes and horse riding at Lake Mburo, with shorter drives and child-friendly lodges.

A rocky-outcrop setting on the edge of Lake Mburo, ideal for the first night out of Entebbe after Mabamba.
Rwakobo Rock sits on a rocky hill just outside Lake Mburo National Park, close to the Nshara gate. Its cottages are spread around the outcrop, using ledges and quiet corners for privacy and views.
The lodge has around a dozen thatched stone cottages and five rooms in the Hornbill House, each with a private bathroom and veranda, as well as simple tents for a more basic bush stay. Lighting and hot water are solar powered.
Couples, families and first-night travellers from Entebbe.
Lake Mburo is about four hours by road from Kampala on the main highway to Mbarara, with a stop at the Equator on the way. The park’s main gates are signposted from the highway, and Mbarara airstrip is about an hour away. From the park, Bwindi is about five to six hours and Queen Elizabeth about four.
Lake Mburo is Uganda’s smallest savannah park, about four hours from Kampala on the road to Bwindi. It is the best place in Uganda for impala and has large numbers of zebras and eland, as well as buffalo, topi, warthogs, hippos and leopards. Because there are no elephants and few large predators, walking, cycling and horseback safaris are possible. Read zebra, eland and impala at Lake Mburo.
Lake Mburo breaks the long drive between Kampala and Bwindi or Queen Elizabeth, and one or two nights here add a relaxed day of wildlife. See our 2-day Lake Mburo safari and 4-day Bwindi gorillas and Lake Mburo safari.
