Amarembo by Touch Down

Amarembo by Touch Down, formerly Amarembo Gorilla Village, is a boutique hotel in Kinigi, close to Volcanoes National Park, the Red Rocks Arts Centre and the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.

Getting there

Kinigi is about 2–2.5 hours from Kigali International Airport on a good paved road through terraced hills, and about 30 minutes from Musanze town. From Uganda’s Kisoro, the Cyanika border is about an hour away. Lake Kivu at Rubavu is 1–1.5 hours to the west.

About Volcanoes National Park

Volcanoes National Park protects Rwanda’s share of the Virunga volcanoes, where Dian Fossey studied mountain gorillas from 1967. Treks start with a 7:00am briefing at Kinigi, and about a dozen habituated gorilla families are visited, as well as golden monkeys.
