Wildlife 7 days7-Day Murchison Falls and Kidepo Valley Safari
Two of Uganda’s greatest wildernesses in one journey: the thundering Nile at Murchison Falls, then the wide, wild plains of Kidepo Valley in the far north-east.

Safari tents on raised decks about 500 metres from the Kalokudo gate, with sweeping views over the Narus Valley and Mount Morungole.
Kidepo Savannah Lodge stands about 500 metres from the Kalokudo gate of Kidepo Valley National Park, with views over the Narus Valley, Mount Morungole and the mountains along the South Sudan border. It is the most remote lodge of the Nature Lodges group, and its design is inspired by the Karamojong.
The lodge has en-suite safari tents on raised decks with private verandas, and budget tents that share a bathroom block. Elephants and buffalo sometimes pass in view.
Travellers wanting good value in Kidepo.
Kidepo is about 10–12 hours by road from Kampala, usually with a night in Gulu or Kitgum on the way. Scheduled and charter flights from Entebbe and Kajjansi land at Apoka airstrip inside the park, close to the lodges.
Kidepo lies in Uganda’s far north-east, on the borders with South Sudan and Kenya. The Narus Valley holds most of the wildlife, with large buffalo herds, elephants, zebras, Jackson’s hartebeest, giraffes and ostriches, a species found nowhere else in Uganda. It is remote, wild and quiet. Read Kidepo Valley wilderness.
The dry season, roughly September to March, concentrates animals in the Narus Valley, while the rains from April to August bring green hills and fewer visitors. Because Kidepo is so remote, we recommend at least two nights and, if the budget allows, flying in. Lions are few, but buffalo, elephants, giraffes and ostriches are seen on most drives. See Kidepo Valley National Park for a full park guide.
Two or three nights are ideal, and flying in saves long road days. See our 4-day Kidepo Valley fly-in safari.
