One&Only Gorilla’s Nest is a luxury lodge in the eucalyptus-scented foothills of the Virunga volcanoes on the edge of Kinigi, close to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters where gorilla treks begin.
Rooms
The lodge has around 21 rooms, including suites, raised on stilts among the trees. Each has a spacious balcony and an outdoor shower. Facilities include a pool, a spa, a gym, a restaurant and a bar.

Getting there
Kinigi is about 2–2.5 hours from Kigali International Airport on a good paved road through terraced hills, and about 30 minutes from Musanze town. From Uganda’s Kisoro, the Cyanika border is about an hour away. Lake Kivu at Rubavu is 1–1.5 hours to the west.

About Volcanoes National Park
Volcanoes National Park protects Rwanda’s share of the Virunga volcanoes, where Dian Fossey studied mountain gorillas from 1967. Treks start with a 7:00am briefing at Kinigi, and about a dozen habituated gorilla families are visited, as well as golden monkeys.
